Brand launches with innovative styles that you can wear - anywhere.
Hingham, Mass. - April 28, 2022 - Call to Action Clothing (C2A®) is disrupting women’s swimwear with patent-pending technologies that are both good for the planet and allow women to feel comfortable and confident in their clothing, whether at the beach, on the court, or in the office.
It’s no secret that women’s swimwear hasn’t changed much in the last 50 years. The trends come and go each season, but almost all bathing suits feature those pesky polyurethane foam cups that twist and fall out and, worse, clog landfills. Jill Palese, the designer of C2A, set out to change that - for good. A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, Jill drew on a lifetime of experience designing swim and activewear lines for Jones New York, Lands’ End, Gottex, LL Bean, Delta Burke, and New Balance.
“I wanted to design a product with longevity that stays with you throughout the seasons,” Palese said. “The pandemic has shifted the way we live in our clothes. Women want to feel comfortable and confident as we move through our day. And we want to feel like we are doing something good for the environment - we want responsible fashion. C2A’s pieces are timeless wardrobe staples.”
The brand has several innovative fashion patents pending, including the Bits Blocker™. Built into the suit’s core structure, the Bits Blocker eliminates the need for padding. Now women can dive in without worrying about popping out - while being fashion conscious. C2A also created the Boomerang Band™, which is a design that supports pregnant women’s stomachs and stretches to fit their growing bellies.
In the past few years, the lines between athleisure and shapewear have blurred. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Lizzo are betting big on shapewear. Kardashian’s SKIMS doubled in value to $3.9 billion in nine months. Shapewear is no longer hiding parts of our body that we don’t like but instead feeling comfortable in our clothes as we do in our skin. The next logical evolution is multifunctional swimwear, and C2A is leading the way.
Slated to launch in March 2020, Palese and co-founder Dan Rakauskas chose to stop producing swimwear and start making medical gowns to help frontline workers during the pandemic. They used their factory and fabric resources to create 8,500 medical isolation gowns.
Jill remotely trained the factory workers to execute the pattern and manufacture the medical gowns. Part of the inspiration for the project was to keep furloughed factory workers employed. C2A provided $250,000 worth of medical gowns to hospitals in the Greater Boston Area.
"We were uniquely able to help,” said Palese. “Making the choice to pause and pivot took about five minutes because it meant that we could use all of our resources, experience, our factory, and the talented team of technicians to support local hospitals. I would make exactly the same choice again and again".
C2A will kick off its long-awaited launch campaign with an invitation-only event at the Club Car at the Nantucket Wine Festival on Saturday, May 21, from 1 to 3 PM. The brand has many other exciting activities planned for summer, including several pop-ups around Cape Cod and the islands, a partnership with influencer Tara West, and an appearance at Miami Swim Week.
